About Harp & Reels: how we work, and what we don't claim

A short page, because there is not much to dress up. We are a small team writing about slots for players in Ireland, we are paid by affiliate commission, and we are careful about the difference between what we have checked and what we have not.

Who publishes this

Harp & Reels is published by Harp Reels Media Ltd. Articles appear under the name of the editorial team rather than individual bylines: the responsibility sits with the company, and the contact address below reaches all of us rather than one person who may have moved on.

We write in English for players in Ireland, about slots: what return to player actually costs over an evening, what Megaways really does to a session, and how a progressive jackpot is paid for. Plenty of sites will list a slot's RTP. Very few will tell you what a 96% game takes off you in an hour, in euro.

How we check what we publish

Offers come from the operator's own page. Every amount on this site was read off the operator's promotions page on the day we checked it. Where the terms give different multiples for different bonus tabs, our table carries the range instead of the flattering end.

We do not move numbers between markets. An Austrian or German offer is not an Irish one. This is the most common error in affiliate publishing and the easiest to spot once you know to look for it — a euro figure that matches another country's promotion exactly is usually a translation, not a check.

We read the terms as well as the headline. Wagering, maximum bet, expiry, game contribution. Slots usually count 100% towards wagering, which is the one piece of good news in the small print — but the maximum bet while a bonus is live is low, and going over it once voids the lot.

We check the licence is stated and verifiable. Number and issuing authority, in the operator's footer, linked. Where that is missing, so is our confidence.

What we have not done

This is the part most comparison sites leave out, so we will be direct: we have not deposited money at these casinos.

Which means you will not find withdrawal times, payout speeds or customer support ratings anywhere on this site. Those require real money going in and coming back out, and until we have done that, publishing them would be inventing them. We would rather have thinner pages than made-up ones.

You will also not find "our experts tested" anywhere, because there is no expert panel and no scoring algorithm. There is a small team reading offer pages and terms, and writing down what is on them.

How the site is funded

Affiliate commission. If you open an account through one of the «Visit site» buttons, the operator pays us a share of what they make. It costs you nothing, and the bonus is identical with our link or without it.

What that money does not do is decide the order of the table. If it did, the €15,000 headline offer would be at the top instead of fifth, and the €300 one we actually recommend would not be on the page at all. We also list operators we have no commercial relationship with, and we say where a partner is weak — a comparison site that does neither of those things is an advertisement with extra steps.

On Irish licensing, stated plainly

None of the operators on this site holds an Irish licence. They run on international licences — typically Curaçao or Anjouan — and accept players from Ireland. Those are two different things and we never blur them.

The practical consequence for you: if a withdrawal stalls or an account is restricted, there is no Irish authority to bring it to. You deal with the operator, and with whoever issued its licence. There is a second consequence worth knowing, which is that self-exclusion and deposit limits have to be set at each casino separately and do not carry across — we cover that on the responsible gambling page.

Corrections

Offers change without notice, and some of what is on this site will be out of date before we notice. If you find a figure that no longer matches the operator's page, a condition that has changed, or a payout that has stalled, write to us. We will fix it and date the fix.

Contact details are in the site footer and on the terms page. The content here is informational and is not legal, tax or financial advice, and it is for over-18s only.
